“For a long time, it was believed that France’s future was very much its past. But, culturally speaking, the country is evolving. I think it’s more porous and more permeable to external influences.”

“La Suite de l’Histoire” (The Continuation of History) was a collection of 21 large-scale sculptures in the Jardins des Tuileries. The installation showcased a variety of pieces by artists who are from different places, but who all want to engage with the question of how to interpret or re-frame the history of art and public spaces. Annabelle Ténèze gave David Yurman a tour of some of these striking pieces.

Wood sculptures by Thaddeus Mosley were showcased at the musée national Eugène-Delacroix, marking the 96-year-old artist’s first solo show in the French capital. The starting point of Mosley’s works are fallen trees that he carves using only a mallet and chisel, a process he compares to jazz improvisation. Mosley and David Yurman connected over their shared love of sculptural form.
